All session and event times are listed in Nepal Standard Time (+5:45 GMT).
The conference is scheduled from 1 to 4 June 2025 (Sunday to Wednesday) at four hotels in KathmanduāsĀ Lazimpat area, all
located within a minuteās walk of each otherāHotel Radisson Kathmandu,Ā Hotel Dusit Princess, Hotel Manaslu
andĀ HotelĀ Tibet.
There will be five sessions each day held in the 16 halls of the four hotels. Each session of 90 minutes will take place
concurrently at the following times:

5:00ā6:30 PM
The conference halls in each of the hotels are:
Radisson: Dhuku, Nepa, Fewa, Begnas, Rara and Gosaikunda
Dusit: Princess Ballroom, Vista, Lumbini I and Lumbini II
Tibet: Potala and Norbulingka
Manaslu: Hridaya, Lumbini, Kailash and Stupa
Signposts will be placed at strategic places of the four hotels to assist attendees in navigating the conference venues.
The two halls of Hotel Tibet and Vista of Dusit Princess are not wheelchair accessible. The rest of the conference halls
are wheelchair accessible.
Registration will take place at Begnas Hall of Hotel Radisson Kathmandu on Saturday, 31 May 2025, from 12 noon to 5:30 pm. Begnas Hall is located in the Annex building just outside the gate to the main complex of Hotel Radisson. Registration will remain open throughout the conference in the foyer of the Nepa-Dhuku Hall of Radisson from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Individuals not pre-registered may pay their conference fees at the on-site registration counters.
Badges and additional conference materials can be picked up from the registration counters after presenting a valid form
of identification. The badge serves as proof of registration and must be displayed at all times, especially when
accessing sessions and events. Please note that attendees cannot collect badges for anyone other than themselves, and
lost badges can only be replaced for a replacement fee.

Staff and conference volunteers will be readily available to assist attendees and can be contacted through the
conference help and information desks, open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. The information desks are situated in front of the
Nepa-Dhuku Hall in the Radisson, in front of the Princess Ballroom in Dusit, next to the hotel reception in Tibet and in
the courtyard adjacent to the hotel lobby in Manaslu.
Staff and conference volunteers will be wearing beige-colored baseball caps with the conference logo and their lanyard
will be red as opposed to the blue lanyards of the conference participants.
The opening ceremony of the 2025 AAS-in-ASIA Conference will take place at the Nepa-Dhuku Hall of Radisson at 6:00 pm on
Saturday, 31 May 2025. Pitamber Sharma, former professor of geography at Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, will deliver
the Keynote Address entitled āReframing Global Asias: The Nepal Perspectiveā. There will be welcome remarks by Professor
Nancy Peluso, President of the Association of Asian Studies and Nirmal Man Tuladhar, Chair of Social Science Baha (SSB).
A āChariya Danceā, a traditional Buddhist performance from the Kathmandu Valley, will close the opening ceremony. A
reception will follow the opening ceremony. All participants are invited to join both events and are requested to bring
their conference badges as proof of registration.
Lunch will be served centrally at the four hotelsāthe Waterfall Garden in Radisson; next to the Princess Ballroom on the
second floor and on the twelfth floor of Dusit, one floor below Vista; on the fifth floor, one floor below
Potala and Norbulingka in Tibet; and the Junu Restaurant and Golden Roof Restaurant of Manaslu.
Lunch will last an hour, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. All conference attendees must present coupons for lunch. Lunch
coupons for different days will be handed out individually during registration and they are not replaceable.
Coffee breaks are scheduled three times during the day; at 10:00 to 10:30 am, 2:30 to 3:00 pm and 4:30 to 5:00 pm.
Coffee and tea will be served outside the conference rooms at all four hotels.
Misplaced belongings may be taken to the information help desks. For assistance in recovering lost items, please enquire
at the information desk at the relevant hotel.
Free and complimentary Wi-Fi is available for conference attendees in all four hotelsā meeting rooms and common areas.
QR codes for Wi-Fi will be placed strategically in accessible areas of the four hotels. Please note that the available
bandwidth may only be suitable for simple web browsing and may not support heavy data transfers.
Exhibition booths are located in front of the Nepa-Dhuku and the Waterfall Garden, the dining area, of the Radisson as
well as in the garden of Manaslu opposite Hridaya. Exhibition hours will be from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm on the four days of
the conference.
Photographers will be present at all events, including the opening session, special events, panels and in the conference
rooms of all four hotels. They may occasionally record conference sessions for future promotional material.
Anyone other than AAS and SSB-authorized media outlets and personnel intending to record audio or video must first seek
permission from the participants. AAS and SSB reserve the right to cancel the registration of anyone who records
sessions without following due process.
AAS and SSB invite all attendees to post about the conference in real time using their social media handles. Speakers
who wish to keep their identity and content private should inform the audience at the outset of their presentation.
